We were absolutely delighted to be able to declare the first phase of the long – awaited Western Relief Road project as open. The 800 meter first phase of road and new bridge which runs from the Templepatrick Road to the Doagh Road in Ballyclare were officially opened on the 21st December 2021. Lotus Homes Managing Director, Paul O’Rourke and Lotus Group CEO, Ciaran Murdock proudly held the ribbon at the official opening ceremony. Joined by Cllr Billy Webb, the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey as he cut the ribbon.

The trio were joined by members of the Lotus Homes team, E & L Construction, main contractors of the Rushfield development, members of the DUO team who were tasked with the creation of the new road and bridge and other senior Councillors. Welcoming the opening of the road, Independent Councillor Micheal Stewart said “The delivery of the first phase of this crucial infrastructure by The Lotus Group will be greatly welcomed by the people of Ballyclare and our local businesses. It is another significant endorsement of the continued attractiveness of our town to companies with vision and house buyers looking for the perfect place to call home.
Paul O’Rourke commented “The Ballyclare Western Relief Road has been called for since the 1980’s, and we are delighted to be able to deliver the first phase of this significant piece of infrastructure to benefit the people of Ballyclare.” He also added “Ballyclare has been identified as having a fast growing population due to its popularity, and we are confident that our investment in Ballyclare’s infrastructure will not only improve travel for residents, but will also help to create commercial opportunities for the town.
